Rest in Peace Brother Carmine Delisio

We mourn the loss of our Brother Carmine Delisio. Carmine was a long time resident of Haverstraw as well as a long time member of Council 581. Devoted to his Faith, he was an active member of Saint Peter's Church. He will be missed by his Council, his community, and his Church.

His obituary from the Journal News appears below:

DELISIO, Carmine W.


Carmine W. Delisio, age 83, a lifelong resident of Haverstraw, NY passed away August 23, 2009 with his loving family by his side. He was born April 2, 1926 to Anthony and Ellen Cooke Delisio. Carmine was employed by the U.S. Postal Dept. as a letter carrier for 37 years in the Village of Haverstraw. He was a member of the Board of Education of the North Rockland Central School District from 19681983. He served as Vice President for one year and President for six years. He also served as a school board member of Rockland County BOCES from 19761999 and served as Vice President from 1985-1989. Carmine was a 58 year member of the Rescue Hook and Ladder Co. #1 of the Village of Haverstraw Fire Dept and served as Treasurer for 46 years. He was also a fifty year member of R.C.V.F.A. and the Hudson Valley Fireman's Association. Carmine was a fourth degree Knight and a member for over fifty years of the Haverstraw Knights of Columbus, Council # 581. He was an avid Yankee fan and one of the founders of The Haverstraw Little League. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lucille Schepis Delisio, two sons, David and Christian and daughter in law Kathleen Delisio, four cherished grandchildren Christopher and wife Nicole, Nicholas and wife Joanne, Christian and Meghan and one great granddaughter Tessa, brother James (Coach) Delisio and wife Ruth, Louis Delisio and wife Ella; also his Aunt Katherine Delisio Sorrento and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at The George M. Holt Funeral Home, Inc. Firematic services will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 P.M. , followed by the Knights of Columbus Service at 8 P.M. Carmine's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peters Church, Haverstraw, NY. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to The American Heart Association Rockland County Chapter or St. Peters R.C. Church in Haverstraw, NY. Words cannot express the loss of our father.
