Appalachian Mission Assistance Program |
The Appalachian Mission Assistance Program (AMAP) provides funding to parishes, schools and outreach ministries in the Diocese of Lexington. These organizations operate in some of the poorest counties in the nation. Many could not survive without AMAP support.
AMAP funds come from private donations, the Catholic Church Extension Society, the USCCB Committee on Home Mission, a diocesan Annual Appeal and other fundraising efforts.
Grants are awarded annually in the spring. The diocesan Mission Board, composed of representatives from the six diocesan deaneries, plus two at-large members, review requests and make funding recommendations.
