A Message from the Diocese concerning CCHD and ACORN Please also know that CCHD has suspended all subsidy payments to ACORN pending investigations into the alleged inappropriate criminal, partisan and political activity. CCHD is serious about compliance with guidelines and our moral values when providing subsidy to organizations -- we participate in screening and review processes for within our diocese.
There has been some press coverage recently regarding a Catholic Campaign for Human Development-funded organization, the Association for Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) which may cause some concern for parishioners being asked to support CCHD via a second collection November 15.
We take our responsibility to be stewards of Church funds and properties seriously; parishioners and others generously offer of their gifts to promote the work of the Church and to evangelize the Gospel and leaven our society. Please note that ACORN does not have any activity subsidized by CCHD or our Diocese in Central or Eastern Kentucky.
