CURSILLO: What is it???

If you've found your way to this site and clicked on this link, we know you're wondering what all the fuss is about regarding the Cursillo movement and whether it's something you'd be interested in.
We'll do our best here to answer what, for now, is probably your biggest question: What IS Cursillo??"
Cursillo (pronounced kur-see-yo) is a shortened name for Cursillos in Christianity, a movement founded in Spain in 1944 by Eduardo Bonnin (pronounced BOW-neen).
If you asked those who've made a Cursillo to tell you about it, you've probably gotten a variety of answers, many of which are wrapped up in a powerful emotional response. Don't be too hard on them. At its heart, Cursillo really is a multi-layered and faceted experience.
Basically, though, Cursillo is designed to - through God's grace - enliven the reality of what it is to be truly Christian by highlighting the uniqueness, originality, and creativity of each person. In becoming aware of their potential and accepting their limitations participants realize the kind of freedom that empowers them to nuture the relationships that make them able to live virtuous lives.
In other words, Cursillo proclaims the best news of the best reality: that God, in Christ, loves us.
Pretty powerful stuff, huh?
