Don't Miss the Magnificat Breakfast on December 12th!!! We'd Love to See You There!!!!

MAGNIFICAT, Gentle Woman, Mother of Mercy Chapter at 2520 Vestal Parkway East PMB 130, Vestal, NY 13850 US - ADOPT A PRIEST

ADOPT A PRIEST

Ongoing church closings, declining vocations, and abuse scandals  in the Catholic Church reflect a spiritual crisis that all Catholics need to recognize and combat through prayer. Many wonderful priests no longer want to wear their habits in public because of the way they are viewed as a result of the scandals. There is an urgent need to lift-up our beloved Priests in prayer. In his written Appeal For Prayer and Reparation, Fr. Scallon, the Spiritual Director of Magnificat, asks us to do Spiritual Combat for our priests.

The faithful are also encouraged you to spiritually ADOPT one or more  priests into your family and to commit to pray for these Priests by name, each and every day.  You can start by visiting the Crusade For Priests website which provides mediations and an opportunity to spiritually adopt a priest, bishop, seminarian or someone discerning a vocation. The Daisy Movement started in 1981. This movement is based on 7 members who pray for a particular priest who represents the center of the daisy. There is a Catholic BLOG where you can participate in discussions about spiritual motherhood for priests. The Adopt a Priest Rosary Site is dedicated to Mary and is a very special site of prayer devoted to priests. Finally, be be sure to visit the Ten Ways to Love Your Priest website to get other ideas on how to honor and cherish your adopted priest. If you prefer to keep it simple, you can just send a card through the mail or make it a family affair and have your children design and color their own personal Adoption Cards for your special priest. Your children will love doing it and your Priest will be appreciate your thoughtfulness. You will also be teaching your children that our relationships with our priests are a very privileged part of our lives as Catholics. Your children will learn through your example that we are called to honor and cherish our priests and to visibly demonstrate our christian love and affection for them as they are a special grace to us from God.

Do give your Priest a Magnificat Moment tm by ministering to him with the gift of encouragement. Send your priest a card or a letter to let him know that he is being lifted up in prayer.  Let your Priest know that he is not alone and that he is truly loved and cherished by your you, your family, and your parish. Thank God each and everyday for the awesome gift of the priesthood!!!!!
