About the Speaker: Susan Potvin

Growing up as a faithful Catholic, Susan never thought she had a “testimony” to share.  With no major conversion experience, Susan’s life testifies to the concept of “developmental conversion” – growing into the understanding of God’s presence and power in your life.   Her story touches and reflects many of our lives as she discovered that God does give each of us a “testimony” - writing a story in each of our lives, drawing us and leading us to know Him, love Him and serve Him. 

Susan grew up in an alcoholic home and became the over-responsible caretaker in the family.   Marrying early in life, adopting four children, serving at every opportunity possible, she never felt the confident assurance of God’s love for her.  Through the normal trials of life and the extraordinary struggles of dealing with their oldest son’s drug addiction, Susan’s story is one of learning to walk in trust of God – learning how to embrace Him as Loving Father.

Susan Potvin, worship leader and inspirational speaker, has been involved in Catholic and ecumenical renewal work for more than twenty five years.  She graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville with a B.A. in Theology and continues to work on a Masters in Counseling.   She and her husband, Urby, who have been married for twenty eight years, reside in Wintersville, Ohio.  They have four children and one grandchild.  Susan is a Guidance and Career Counselor at a local high school.  She is currently the leader of Living Praise Worship Team which travels, serves the Pittsburgh Magnificat Chapter and Greensburg Magnificat Chapter, as well as provides the worship for the International Magnificat Conferences.  Living Praise has produced three worship CD’s (one of which includes Magnificat’s “theme song”).   Susan also leads a worship team at a local church and trains and directs two high school praise bands.
