Projects in Kenya: ST. BAKHITA FORMATION CENTRE

The St. Bakhita Formation Centre is a project of the Sudanese diocese of Rumbek. It is located near Kitale, Kenya in order to be safely away from the ravages of the civil war that has been going on in the Sudan for many years.

The Centre has three programs: A junior seminary (forms one to four); a catechist training course, and a course of training for primary school teachers.

At Bakhita, all of the Students were brought to Kenya from Sudan in order to prepare themselves for leadership positions in the Catholic Church of their poor, suffering country.

Marianists work at Bakhita Centre as Rector, Vice Rector, counsellors, and teachers.

The Centre has great potential for influencing the life of the Church in a future Sudan, when peace returns at last.
