ACES  -  Academic Enrichment Students

Mary Queen provides enrichment opportunities for students who give evidence of high academic achievement capability and who need services to fully develop their potential through the ACES program. Students in grades K-8 whose achievement test scores are above the 90% are eligible for the ACES pull-out program. A full time teacher provides new and challenging learning experiences which are not ordinarily included in the regular classroom. In the ACES program students are encouraged to interact with and challenge each other through the use of a structured format which provides the opportunity for them to work with other students of similar abilities and interests.

To help students become more independent and self-directed learners by identifying their particular style of learning (i.e. visual, kinesthetic, auditory, etc.), along with the areas of academia in which they excel.

·         To encourage students to interact with and challenge each other by structuring a format through which they are able to work with other students with similar abilities and interests.

·         To develop students’ creative problem solving, critical thinking skill, and reasoning abilities, as well as their decision-making and communication skills.

·         To assist in developing personal growth, social skills, and self-esteem and in recognizing and responding to specific strengths and needs of others.

·         To learn to critically analyze successes and failures and to provide a safe environment in which students feel comfortable taking educational risks.

·         To work closely with classroom teachers and parents to provide a high quality educational experience.
