Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary School at 605 Hill N Dale Drive, Lexington, KY 40503 US - Service Projects

Service Projects

Putting Our Faith Into Action
The students and staff at MQHR actively participate in service projects throughout the year. Each grade has adopted a specific cause which they will be involved in throughout the year.  There are also specical service projects organized by special groups such as the Beta Club or Student Council, and school-wide service projects.

Service projects provide our students with the opportunity to show their commitment to our Catholic faith and to our community.  Through participation in these service projects we hope to raise the level of awareness about the needs of others and about the responsibility which we have to respond to those needs.

We appreciate your participation and your generosity.  For more information on service opportunities please contact Mr. Norton.

2013 Service Projects

A few months ago, a small group of STLP students consisting of five sixth graders and one fifth grade student from Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary School in Lexington, KY, set out to change the world. They saw the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy and wanted to help relieve some of hurt the storm had left behind, so they started planning. First, they called various organizations such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and National Guard to see what might be needed. They were told primarily clothes and money to purchase the necessities. Then, they asked different members in our school community if they knew anyone who was affected by the storm who wouldn’t mind sharing their story. Since doing their research, these six students have built a website to share these stories as well as advertise their efforts to collect clothes and money. They are sponsoring the follow activities: a clothing drive and monetary donations. They began taking donations on January 23, 20132. All collections will end March 22, 2013. If you would like to donate clothes or money, please mail donations to:

Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary School
Attn: Hurricane Sandy
605 Hill N Dale
Lexington, KY 40503

Clothing donations will be taken to the National Guard and all monetary donations received by February 1 will be sent to Hoboken Catholic Academy, a school in New Jersey which was hit hard by the hurricane. Monetary donations received after that will be sent to the National Guard. If you decide to donate directly to the National Guard or make a monetary donation because our website and efforts inspired you, please email Miss Bottom at mbottom@mq.cdlex.org to let us know what you donated, so we can keep track of the impact we are having.
