Dear Council Sisters, Spiritual Advisors and friends of Council,

I hope everyone took advantage of the 2012 Lake Yale Symposium and came away with a wealth of information, a better understanding of the workings of Council and ideas to build your affiliations.

I will be meeting with Bishop John Noonan to advise him concerning the activities of Council and to learn if he has any projects in which he would like us to participate.

We will once again be supporting our seminarians with our donations to the “Burse Club” and the homeless with “Hugs for the Homeless.”

Northern Deanery will be the hosts for our 45^th Annual Convention, which I’m sure will be wonderful.

Our calendar will be full this year: National Convention in September at Myrtle Beach, FCCW in October at the Sheraton in Maitland, Marian Congress, a day of reflection, Capitol Days, and Hugs for the Homeless. Catholic Charities, CRS, Advocacy and Justice Office, and Mission Office are offices with which we will work closely.

For their guidance and spiritual inspiration we thank Bishop Noonan, Fr. Miguel Gonzalez and all our pastors and spiritual advisors.

Thank you for your support, friendship and love as we start this journey to spread the word of God’s love.

ABOUT US

The Orlando Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (ODCCW) represents the Catholic women in the Diocese of Orlando through parish affiliations or groups. We have 33 affiliations at the present time in the five deaneries: Central Deanery, Eastern Deanery, Northern Deanery, Southern Deanery, and Western Deanery. Each deanery elects three representatives to serve on the ODCCW Board.

The Orlando Council is affiliated with the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) and strives to “support, educate, and empower” the women in our diocese “in spirituality, leadership, and service,” as stated in the NCCW Mission Statement.

The President of the ODCCW represents the women in the diocese at the State (or Province) level by attending meetings of the Florida Council of Catholic Women (FCCW), also known as the Province of Miami. The FCCW President, in turn, represents the women in the state of Florida by serving on the Board of the National Council of Catholic Women.

Our organization is a service organization and we are structured around three (3) commissions: Spirituality, Leadership, and Service. The work of the Council is done through these commissions.
