Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church at 4865 11 Mile Rd NE, Rockford, MI 49341 US - Nursery & Early Childhood

Nursery & Early Childhood

Little Lambs Nursery (ages 1-3)
Vicki Krakowski - Coordinator - 874-8064

Our Little Lambs Co-Op Nursery is available on Sunday mornings during both the 9:00AM and 11:00AM Masses. The nursery is for children 12 months to 3 years of age. While there is no fee for the nursery, registration is necessary and parent participation is required.

At least two adults must be present in order to keep the nursery open at each Mass and meet the requirements for adult supervision which include;
1.  a background check (must be updated every three years)
2.  filling out the Standards of Ministerial Behavior Form
3.  We also request that parents participating in this nursery program complete the "Protecting Gods Children" Virtus program
(http://virtus.org/virtus/)  (This program takes approximately 3 hours to complete but will not need to be repeated. Please register at the above website.)

Starting the Fall of 2009 our nursery will be offered in the OLC Kindergarten room. We have coloring books and age appropriate toys. Teen helpers are always welcomed and needed.

We can’t stress enough that our nursery program is a Co-Operative program. This program will only be successful if the parents who choose to participate in it are consistent in meeting their volunteer shift responsibilities. Teens, parents, grandparents and college students are always needed and welcomed to help out.

Early Childhood / Preschool and Kindergarten (ages 4-5: must be 4 years old by September)
Vicki Krakowski - Coordinator - 874-8064

Our program is available on Sunday mornings during both the 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM Masses. Registration is required and there is a $25.00 registration fee. Starting the Fall of 2009 classes will be held in the OLC 1st Grade Room. Please note that we will be closed on major holiday weekends.

We use a curriculum called “Living the Good News," a curriculum based on the Sunday Readings.  Active little ones need simple words and fun activities to hold their attention and help them remember what they learned.  These sessions will offer Scripture stories, songs, games, and crafts, as well as time for free play.  Families will also enjoy suggestions for continuing exploration at home with the weekly take home newsletter Living the Good News for Families.  In addition, parents will receive a quick review of the week's scriptures and a summary of their children's session.

Children registered in the Early Childhood Faith Formation program may attend either 9:00AM or 11:00 AM sessions on any given week.  For instance, if your family regularly attends the 11:00AM Mass but for some reason will attend the 9:00AM Mass your child may join the 9:00AM ECFF session that week.

For the safety and security of the children this opportunity will only be available during both Masses if there are enough volunteers to adequately staff the classrooms.  At least two adults must be present in order to keep the classroom open.
The parents must meet the requirements for adult supervision which include;
1.  a background check (must be updated every three years)
2.  filling out the Standards of Ministerial Behavior Form
3.  We also request that parents participating in this program complete the "Protecting Gods Children" Virtus program
(http://virtus.org/virtus/)  (This program takes approximately 3 hours to complete but will not need to be repeated. Please register at the above website.)

This is a co-op program that requires participation from each family. About every six weeks you will be scheduled to assist in the classroom. We do have a catechist to teach the lesson but parents are needed to help out with the activities and meet the requirements for adult supervision.

We can’t stress enough that our nursery and early childhood programs are co-ops. These programs will only be as successful as the families who participate choose to make them. Teens, parents, grandparents and college students are always needed and welcomed to help out.
