Teens On A Mission is a 10 day service opportunity open to youth and their chaperones. This program is a nine month commitment which can be very rewarding yet challenging but most likely, life changing. Participants will become immersed into the lives of the poor while they work side by side helping each other overcome the barriers which divide us. Meetings are held once a month and are designed for the youth to become leaders while making the preparations for this journey. Dates for participation in 2009 are as follows:
Adult Mission Trip – All adults are welcome to participate in the upcoming mission trip to New Orleans. Our housing site is available to us on January 31, 2009. We plan to serve the area throughout the following week. Our service will include restoring homes for the elderly and impaired. For more information please contact Julie 874-6841.
Housing for this trip is provided January 31st through February 7th.
With the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita long-term recovery efforts are now underway in the Gulf Coast, volunteers will play an essential part in helping communities and families rebuild. For information on opportunities to join Operation Helping Hands, check out the Catholic Charities USA website.
MISSION GOLF CLASSIC
This is an exciting event which benefits our cause of helping youth experience service throughout our community and country. Many of the proceeds are used to fund the week long service trip and help those we go to serve. Youth who participate in the mission trip are required to give service to their local community before serving in other US cities. If you are willing to support us through your participation, donations or sponsorship please email Julie at jbuehler@olcparish.net or call 616-874-6841.
