            In many of our readings, we have touched on the spirit of stewardship and how love forms the foundation of our faith. We have heard of the many acts of God trying to teach humans to love one another and to open our hearts to each other. This culminated in the greatest act of love of all -- the giving of Jesus Christ’s life to save all of humankind.

            We are living in both challenging and blessed times. Recently, most Alaskans were blessed with a monetary gift from the state of Alaska while on the very same day, our friends, neighbors and relatives were suffering through terrible storms losing all their worldly possessions -- some their very lives.

            In our community we have seen many acts of stewardship, of people opening their hearts to one another, breaking barriers, becoming one Eucharistic people as children of God. Some of this we see everyday by those who care for people in need, volunteering their time and talents to make lives better. Some we have seen through the sacrifice of our men and women in war, selflessly giving their lives.

            In the next few weeks, you will be asked to join in one of the many stewardship opportunities of the church. Please consider opening your hearts, joining your neighbors, making new friends, and committing some of your time and talent to making this a Stewardship parish. Celebrate the mystery of God’s presence!

What a wonderful moment it would be if the Lord asked and everybody came. In God’s name I ask for your help, your hand, and your heart.  I am praying that you will come forward to help your brothers and sisters and make Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish a true Stewardship Community.
