Our Lady of Guadalupe at 3900 Wisconsin Street, Anchorage, AK 99517 US - OVERVIEW:  The Seven Sacraments

OVERVIEW:  The Seven Sacraments

As Catholics, one of the most profound ways we encounter Jesus Christ is in the Sacraments. In this section you will find information about the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church: Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Matrimony, and Holy Orders.

The Seven Sacraments

*         Baptism

Through Baptism, we have new life in Jesus Christ. Catholic Baptism is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation. Select a link above to learn more about Catholic Baptism.

*         Eucharist

Jesus Christ is truly present in our midst. For Catholics, the Eucharist, or Holy Communion, (one of the three Sacraments of Initiation) is the most profound way we encounter the real presence of Jesus Christ. Learn more about the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Select the link above to learn more about the Eucharist.

*         Reconciliation

Sin got you down? The Sacrament of Reconciliation, one of the two Sacraments of Healing, is an encounter with Jesus that forgives sins and restores us to grace. Learn more about Catholic Reconciliation by selecting a link above.

*         Confirmation

The Holy Spirit is alive in the Church today. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, one of the three Sacraments of Initiation, Catholics are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Learn more about the Sacrament of Confirmation by selecting a link above.

*         Anointing of the Sick

Sickness of the body affects our emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, one of the two Sacraments of Healing, Jesus Christ brings healing - physical and spiritual - to those who are seriously ill. Learn more about Catholic Anointing of the Sick.

*         Matrimony

God is love. This reality is made most evident to us in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, one of the two Sacraments at the Service of Communion.

*         Holy Orders

            The Catholic Church is blessed to have the service of numerous dedicated
            priests. The Sacrament of Holy Orders - one of the two Sacraments at the
            Service of Communion - celebrates the ordination of men to the Catholic
            priesthood. Learn about Holy Orders by selecting a link above.
