Miss Lorna's Preschool at 405 Third Street, Paintsville, KY 41240 US - Home

Welcome to Pre-School!

Our Lady of the Mountains School offers several pre-school programs to meet the needs of our school families.  4-year-old students traditionally attend class 3 days/week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Several spots are also offered in our 5 day/week program for our 4 year old students.  Both classes emphasize Kindergarten readiness, and address the academic and social skills needed to successfully transition to elementary school.  We are very proud to offer the only curriculum based pre-school in the area. One very successful component of our curriculum is the " Handwriting without Tears" program.  This developmentally designed instruction introduces letter formation and progress to printing and cursive writing (in grades 1 and 2).   Our 4-year-old program currently has several openings for the 2011-2012 school year --  parents are encouraged to contact the school at 789-3661 as soon as possible to reserve a spot in this program.  They go fast!

Our 3-year-old class is held every Tuesday and Thursday.   We offer a developmentally appropriate balance between academic lessons, social interactions, and free and structured play.  We do currently have several spaces available in this program for the 2011-2012 school year.  Please call the school office at 789-3661 for registration information.

The  themes for the 2011-2012 school year are:

August –  Let’s Get Acquainted and Manners
September -- All About Me and Apple Day activities
October – Community Workers and Halloween
November – Kentucky Animals, BEAR Week, and Thanksgiving
December – Holidays
January – Nutrition and Health and Martin Luther King Jr.
February – Dinosaurs, Dental Care, Valentine's Day and President's Day
March – Bugs and Insects and St. Patrick
April – Ocean Animals and Easter
May –Review
