Father Terence Hoppenjans: Religion As pastor of St. Michael’s parish, Father Hop has been actively involved in school activities for over 14 years. Father Hop teaches religion and celebrates mass with the students every Friday morning. He participates on several school committees, assists with fundraisers, arranges for volunteer crews and, with the principal, is responsible for the general operation of the school. Father Hop celebrated his 50th anniversary of his ordination as a Catholic priest during the summer of 2005. In addition to his parish and school related duties, Father Hop is involved with many charitable activities which benefit needy individuals and families in our area. Father Hop has served the Catholic Church in the Eastern Kentucky Mountain region for over 56 years. He also serves on a number of diocesan committees and boards.
Sister Nancy Edwards: Religion Sister Nancy has been teaching religion to all grades at OLM for 13 years, including preparation of the second graders for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. She has degrees in both nursing and education. She has worked in the health field and has previously taught 1st, 2nd, and 6th grades. She is from the Order of St. Joseph in Brentwood, New York and celebrated her 50th anniversary of joining the order in September 2005. Sister Nancy provides support to all our school families, and is involved in many charitable activities throughout the year, including volunteering every Saturday morning at the Mountain Outlet. Sister Nancy loves teaching at OLM and states, “The children are such a blessing – they are light, alive, dear, and precious. Every day that I teach at OLM is a good day.”
