2006 Course Descriptions and Schedule Mondays 3:15 PM - 4:15 PM March 6th, 13th, 20th, & 27th Sponsored by OLOF P.T.O. Our Lady of Fatima Parish School PTO is proud to once again offer enrichment classes for its students. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for learning experiences that will expand the special interests or talents of the students participating. Because the classes are designed to enrich and culture student's interest, there will be no tests or grades. The intent is to create an environment that caters to the enjoyment of learning with an atmospher of competence and confidence. If you have questions, please call Anne McGee at 304-733-6591. COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Arts & Crafts: Sonja Barry Let your creativity soar and get your hands dirty in the process. Have a lot of fun and learn how to make lots of clever craft projects. Grades K-3 Let's Get Cooking... Lisa Jacobson Bring your apron and cook up something good to eat. Grades K-2 Team Sports: Mary Adams Have fun and learn some new skills. Each week, a different team sport will be covered. Grades K-3 Mad Scientists: Pam Mays Make science come alive with hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Lots of fun and learning too. Grades 3-4 Advanced Chess: Tim Balch If you love chess or want to learn more about it, join us for an hour of chess! Learn and improve on your chess skills. If you already have a chess board and pieces, bring it with you, if not we will have extras. Grades 4-8 Around the World Travel from the seat of your desk and learn about the culture and customs of various countries. Each week a different teacher will share the traditions and customs that make each homeland unique. Grades 4-8 Let's Cook Dinner: Anne McGee Do you wish you could cook a meatloaf or roast a chicken? Learn a few basic cooking skills and recipes that will last a lifetime. Grades 5-8 Girls CAN! Empowerment: Dr. Leigh Ann Compton Join us for learning how to be a better communicator, gain self-confidence, learn new study skills and learn about what makes girls so great. Guest speakers may come to give special insight on topics. Grades 5-8 Soccer Fun: St. Joseph Catholic High School Soccer Team Members Come play soccer, learn a few new techniques and have a lot of fun from champion high school soccer players. Grades 5-8 Percussion: Robert Mays Come learn the basics of keeping the beat. Different percussion techniques will be taught and different aspects of percussion instruments will be explored. Grades 6-8
