BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COMMUNITY
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COMMUNITY The Orthodox Christian Community of The Philanthropic Love of Christ is a monastic Community that traces its roots to Poland. As the decades passed and two world wars occured, all ties with the European establishment faded. Today as the new century has dawned, this monastic family of Christ our God is a dependency of the Eparchy of Nebraska and receives a tremendous amount of divine grace and many blessings from the prayers of our Eastern Orthodox brothers and sisters. The Orthodox Christian Community of the Philanthropic Love of Christ is the Eparchy's Mar Thoma Vicariate. It assists in the operation of Bethany House Ministries, which is a separate, self-governing non-profit and non-denominational organization. Bethany House Ministries is operated by the vote of its own Administrator, Assistant Administrator, the Chaplains, and the Board of Directors, all of whom are non-salaried, disabled, seniors, and caring individuals of various denominations. Bethany House Ministries itself is not a Parish, nor does it have parishes or congregations, but is encouraging its members and clients to participate in the worship of God at ecumenical, non-doctrinal intercessory prayer cenacles. Prayer of various styles, praise, intercession and the reading of the Word of God, with one prime objective, to give glory to God in the holy Name of Jesus.
