A Prayer for Awakening
Holy Spirit, come like a mighty rushing wind and awaken us out of our complacency, our apathy, our indifference. Disturb us, for we are too content to let things go on as they are, and to let people go on not knowing you. Penetrate the closed gates of our hearts and make us live again. O Holy Spirit, create among us a mighty Christian revolution and cast the fear of the unknown out of our lives. Amen.
For the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Spirit of wisdom, preside over all my thoughts, words and actions, from this hour til the moment of my death.
Spirit of understanding, enlighten and teach me.
Spirit of counsel, direct my experience.
Spirit of fortitude, strengthen my weakness.
Spirit of knowledge, instruct my ignorance.
Spirit of piety, make me fervent in good works.
Spirit of fear, restrain me from all evil.
Spirit of peace, give me your peace.
Heavenly Spirit, make me persevere in the service of God the Father, and enable me to act on all occasions with goodness, patience, charity, joy, generosity, mildness, and fidelity. Let the heavenly virtues of modesty, continence and chasity adorn the temple you have chosen for your abode, and, by your all-powerful grace, preserve my soul from the misfortune of sin. Amen.
