Signing the Official Documents, August 22, 1998, Feast of the Queenship of Mary

The Pater Noster Fraternity first began on a cold blustery day in January of 1994. 10 professed Secular Franciscans met and signed a petition to form a new fraternity. The process involves following a number of steps, each taking one to two years. We began as a "forming community" meeting just like any other fraternity under the "wings" of the St. Anthony Fraternity in Lincoln, Nebraska. Having a very "viable and authentic" community, we were then raised to the next level of "emerging fraternity." Completing successful Pastoral and Fraternal visitations, we were given the final approval from the Secular Franciscan Order. Finally, on August 22, 1998, the Feast of the Queenship of Mary, the papers were signed to canonically establish the Pater Noster Fraternity as an "official" fraternity in the Secular Franciscan Order. Since then, the community has worked hard to become a family of dedicated and loving franciscans.
