Bishop Gainer to Lead Seven Sessions in Diocese

In preparation for the 2011 legislative session, the Catholic Conference of Kentucky (CCK) is organizing 17 regional legislative advocacy meetings in the four dioceses of the commonwealth. These legislative caucuses, “Catholics @ the Capitol,” provide an opportunity for the CCK to put forth the Catholic position on key issues likely to be discussed in the upcoming legislative session and the Catholic social teaching underpinning those positions. The gatherings also allow Catholics to build relationships with their elected representatives and to act on their faith in the arena of legislative advocacy.

Bishop Gainer will host seven of the eight meetings in the Diocese of Lexington, and we hope for a strong showing from parishes. The Catholic faithful are encouraged to attend these educational meetings where they will learn more about these key issues and be able to develop relationships with legislators.

For a letter from Bishop Gainer sent to all parishes in the diocese encouraging all to attend, click here.
