fourth grade teacher at 104 West Dorothy Lane, Kettering, OH 45429 US - Home
Welcome to my website. I hope you find it informative and easy to use.
October is coming to a close and so is the first quarter of the 2009-2010 school year. Please come to school and sign up for a conference time. If you would like to talk to Mrs. Darr and me at the same time, please schedule the same two time slots for both of us. I look forward to speaking with all parents about your wonderful children.
Fourth graders are loving math class. We are doing line and bar graphs. Of course that means we're learning about ourselves and others as we collect data to graph. Our next topic will be applying multiplication and division facts. Now would be a great time to review multiplication facts if you have not already done so.
Biomes of the world will be the next broad topic we will work on in Science. Students will begin with a general over view of all biomes. They will then begin a more in depth of the desert, wetland, fresh water, ocean, tundra, and rainforest bioms. Please begin to look for an informational sheet about biome projects right after conferences.
In Religion classes the students will be learning and practicing how to find Bible verses. They will be learning how God reveals Himself to us through Jesus, the Bible, Mass, and through other people. We will be preparing for Sunday Mass with the Venture Magazine each Friday.
I welcome parents to contact me at any time. Please feel free to call me at school and leave a voice mail. The number at school is 293-9452 ext. 238. You can send an e-mail to my school account npsalarmstro@mdeca.org.. If I do not respond to any communication within two days please write me a note. Or, if you'd rather, just write me a note.
I will be updating the webpage daily. I WILL list homework, projects and tests daily. Please check the calendar link for upcoming important school and class events. Please note: I WILL NOT be using the homework hotline - I will be using the web site. If you prefer to use the hotline to stay up to date with assignments, please use Mrs. Darr's. The number is 293-9452 ext. 350.
This year I will be teaching math, science and Religion to all the fourth graders. Mrs. Darr will be teaching Language Arts and social studies.
We will also be stressing 3-P's. They are PRIDE - in self, in family, in school and in Church. The second is PREPARATION - for daily activities, for school, for future activities, for leading a Catholic/Christian Life. The final word is PERFORMANCE - in school work, in daily activities, in relationships, in behavior and responsibility.
