St. Elizabeth Catholic Student Center at 2304 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401 US - New Rock talk Guidelines

New Rock talk Guidelines

The speaker at the Rock must meet with the Director of Campus Ministry no later than the Monday of the week of the scheduled talk or they will default their talk for that semester. Some other devotional will take the place of the time of the speaker.

The discernment process will begin with an application/abstract by the individual or another person to be presented to a CSA officer for review by the discernment committee. After the discernment committee discerns the speakers for the semester, the speakers will be notified of the date of their talk. If there is a conflict with the date they have been scheduled to give their talk, an effort will be made to switch with another speaker to accommodate their schedules. Applications will be given to the Director of Campus Ministry to assign numbers to the names and then the applications will be passed to the discernment committee for the discernment process.    This will allow the speakers to be chosen based on their topic with no bias toward the speaker. In the event a speaker is not chosen for a particular semester, their abstract will be kept on file and submitted, with their approval, for the following semester.

Abstract guidelines:
  • No more than 200 words
  • Must include topic to be discussed and key points covered
    • Can be a testimony on how God is working in your life
    • Can be a teaching of the Catholic Church and how you have come to a deeper understanding of it or how it has impacted your life

You will be allotted 15 – 20 minutes for the talk itself.

If you have any questions in regards to these new guidelines, please contact Greg at greg_at_csc@sbcglobal.net

There were decided upon after much discussion and for the continued growth of the spirituality of the community.
