Dear Parents,

 

On November 3, 2009, the Eighth Grade is planning a trip to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati. We will depart St. Albert the Great School at 8:30 and arrive at the Museum around 10:00. Upon arrival, we will be given a guided tour of the museum which will last until around 12:00. We will head to the North Star Café in the museum for lunch. Following lunch we will load the busses for the return trip at 12:30 and get back to school in plenty of time for regular dismissal.

 

Because lunch time will not be until noon, please encourage your child to eat a good breakfast and/or bring a healthy snack to eat before we leave at 8:30. Kettering does not allow students to eat on their busses.

 

We are in need of chaperones for the day. The museum requires that we have at least one chaperone for every 10 students. So, if you can accompany us on that day – we would love it. Unfortunately, we do not have room for parent chaperones on the bus to Cincinnati, so if you do volunteer we will need to work out a carpool. If you can drive, when you send in your slip, could you let us know?

 

Now to the all important answer to the question, “What will it cost?” There is no charge for the students to attend the museum. The cost for a chaperone’s ticket is $9.50.  The PTO has generously agreed to pay for our bus transportation. In addition, if you would like to purchase lunch from the museum café you may do so. Students or chaperones that would like to order a box lunch from the North Star Cafe may do so by filling out the attached form and including the exact price for lunch.  Students may also pack their lunches on that day if they wish.

 

As mentioned earlier, we plan to eat at the North Star Café. We will be on a tight schedule, so ordering box lunches ahead of time is the plan. There is a copy of the menu available on the permission form. Please circle the item your child would like to order and enclose the exact amount for the lunch. To place the order on time, we need all slips to be returned by the due date.
