Interesting thoughts from last year's 7th graders.
Did you know the universe is so large, we will never be able to see the farthest point? There are entire galaxies that exist yet we can not see. The 7th grade earth science class was assigned the following essay question; "Why did God make the universe so large we can not see all of it?"
The following samples were taken from those essays. Names of the students are not given and all students whose words appear expressed they would not mind me placing their essay on this web page.
"Why did God make the universe so large we can not see all of it?"
“I think that He made the universe in His image and His image is a very big one…”
“… It is just like having faith in God. We can’t see Him but we believe He is there. God is also a mystery slowly revealing Himself to us like the universe.”
“I think God made the universe big because He wants us to believe that there is more than we see. I think He did this because we can’t always see God but we believe He is there. I think He made this sort of a lesson for us. We know there is more than what we see and it is because we believe. The universe is endless, just like God’s love.”
“I believe he made it so large because it is needed. I believe every part of the universe will be used at some point, and it is there for a reason….”
“… God made the universe so big so we could explore His creations, so we can set out and discover many things about it. He made it so big, so it could be a challenge for us, a challenge that will make us stronger. The universe is so big it represents how big and endless God’s love is for us.”
“…I think that once you go to heaven, one of the rewards is to see the great vastness of the universe. I think you get to explore the universe and everything in it. It is something to be good for.”
