Month of May:
     May is the month we honor the Virgin Mary.  We will have a May Crowning on Tuesday, May 12 at 2:00.  The children practice and say the rosary.  I will send a rosary home with each child.
     The children have all been Star Tested to determine their reading level.  They are reading a book during class every day and taking AR tests which check for comprehension.  Please encourage them to read 10 minutes each afternoon to help with their growth.
     In Science we are learning about the lifecycle of plants and insects.  We will be watching the lifecycle of a mealworm.  They will be surprised to find out what it becomes as an adult in a few weeks.  I will be sending the adult home to set free outside.
      In Math we have finished our unit on measurement and will begin learning to add and subtract double digits.  We will work on this until the end of the year.  We will continue timed tests and Math Minutes which have been a great review for the children.  Be sure to look over the work that comes home on Monday to see how your child is doing.
