Letter of the Week
Bb
What happened?
How did it make you feel?
What do you want to do about how you feel?
What will happen if you do that?
We will help show the two Letter People that we enjoy both buttons and zippers. We will create a graph showing what our coats and clothing have. We will use terms: more, fewer, most, and equal as we talk about the graph.
When at home, involve your child in looking for items that begin with B...talk about the sound b makes and look at words that begin with B.
I enjoyed meeting with you during conferences. The home-school connection is only furthered by meetings like these. Thank you for your continued support on items needed for projects and the bunny. We are in need of buttons, water color paint, craft eyes, and stickers.
Teddy Bear, Teddy bear
turn around.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
touch the ground
Teddy bear, teaddy bear,
reach up high.
Teddy bear, teddy bear,
wave goodbye!
Grandpa Bear's Lullaby
The night is long
But fur is deep
You will be warm
In winter sleep
The food is gone
But dreams are sweet
And they will be
Your winter meat.
The cave is dark
But dreams are bright
And they will serve
As winter light.
Sleep, my little cubs, sleep.
Jane Yolen
Here are some facts we will learn each day.....

Having fun with Bb
*If you have a button box, ask your child to take out a handful of buttons and place on a table.
*Sort the buttons. (size, shape, color)
*Put the buttons in piles of 10....count by 10's to reach a total.
Put them in piles of 2 and count by 2's. Do the same with 5's.
*Look at pictures of when you were a baby.
*Read a favorite book together.
*Look around the house for things that are black, blue and brown.
*Foods that begin with Bb....biscuits, bananas, buttermilk, bread, butter, burritos, bacon, bagels, broccoli, and butterscotch pudding.

Practice bouncing a ball. Have your child:

*bounce the ball using just the left hand.
*toss the ball into the air and catch it.
*toss the ball into the air, clap, then catch it before it hits the ground.
*find a partner to toss the ball back and forth with.

When the opportunity arises at home for your child to compare 2-3 objects, please have them do so. Helping children pay closer attention to the details of objects is a good skill. Also, continue to count at home. The holidays will lend themselves to many different ways of counting objects. Whether it be family members, place settings, lights, ornaments, candies, presents, stripes on a scarf, trucks on the highway, or cars in the driveway. There are always plenty of things for a child to count....I find myself standing in lines counting the number of people in front of me until I'm at the register.
