Mission Philosophy Statement

It is the Mission of Sacred Heart of Jesus School to provide a Catholic, Christ-centered education which nurtures spiritual, academic, emotional, social, cultural and physical growth. It is our goal to assist each child in developing his/her unique gifts, and to encourage the sharing of these gifts for the benefit of the larger global community.

  1. We believe each child is a gift from God with talents and strengths to share. (emotional)
  2. We believe a Christ-centered education is essential to our students’ successful growth in all areas of their lives. (academic/social)
  3. We believe in providing a challenging academic environment for every child. (academic)
  4. We believe in preparing each child to live and share his or her Catholic faith through prayer, the gospels, and the sacraments. (spiritual)
  5. We believe in nurturing each child’s love for God and to show their love through their daily actions and words towards others. (social/emotional)
  6. We believe learning to live in the image of God includes compassion towards all members of our community. (social)
  7. We believe families and educators working together can help each child achieve his or her highest potential. (academic/emotional)
  8. We believe in cultivating in each child a desire for life-long learning and in developing skills to achieve such learning. (academic/social)

Outcomes:

In order to achieve the purpose of Sacred Heart of Jesus School, students will:

  • MODEL their lives on the teachings of Jesus through prayer, respect for life, practice of self-discipline and responsible decision making.
  • PARTICIPATE in Church life, especially in the sacraments, liturgy and service.
  • DEMONSTRATE knowledge of Catholic teachings, traditions and Church history.
  • WORK both independently and cooperatively.
  • DEMONSTRATE effective communication skills through reading, writing, speaking and listening.
  • DEMONSTRATE the effective use and application of computational skills and mathematical concepts.
  • DEMONSTRATE the effective use of technological and informational resources.
  • DEMONSTRATE the effective use of scientific methods and concepts.
  • EXHIBIT the knowledge of our country’s democratic process, history, and cultural diversity needed to become active citizens within our country and the global community.
  • EXPRESS themselves creatively through the fine arts.
  • DEMONSTRATE personal and social skills needed for spiritual, physical, and emotional wellness.
