PARISH MINISTRIES & GROUPS PARISH ADVISORY COUNCIL The Parish Advisory Council meets in the Spring, June and October, to discuss parish matters and offers advice. Forthcoming meetings are advertised in the Parish Bulletin. Items for the agenda can be proposed through any member of the Council. WORSHIP Ministry of the Eucharist Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at Ministry to the Sick Extraordinary Ministers of the Sick visit the sick and housebound of the parish, and bring them communion when requested. They are also commissioned on the Feast of Corpus Christi each year. Contact Father Michael. Ministry of the Word “Sacred Scripture is of the greatest importance in the celebration of the Liturgy” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, 24) Those who have received the sacrament of Confirmation and who have undergone training may offer themselves to this ministry of proclaiming the Word of God. Contact Mrs Ministry of Music “Liturgical worship is given a more noble form when it is celebrated in song” (Instruction on Music in the Liturgy, 5) Musicians, especially organists are always needed to help with the music in the Liturgy. The Choir leads the singing at the mid-morning Mass each Sunday. New choir members are welcome. Contact Mrs Jeni Burridge, Mrs Kathryn Merry or Mr Ministry of Servers Anyone who has received their First Holy Communion and is willing to assist at the altar should contact Mr Michael Burridge. Ministry of Welcome Welcomers extend a Christian greeting as we gather to worship. They distribute materials needed for the liturgy and ensure that everyone has a seat at Children’s Liturgy For the moment, this is suspended. Ideally, this is conducted by a catechist whilst the Liturgy of the Word is being celebrated in the Church. Those invited to attend would be children from the age of 3 until they have received their First Holy Communion. Liturgy Group Representatives from each ministry meet regularly to co-ordinate and develop the liturgy in the parish. PARISH GROUPS A.P.F. Group Distribution of the magazine “Mission Today” and collection from Red Mission Boxes. Contact: Miss Bridie O’Brien. Bereavement Group The members minister to those who are grieving, and can help in the planning of funerals. Members are available to talk (but not counsel) those who need to talk about their grief experiences. Church Repository [Piety Stall] A large variety of items is available for sale after Sunday Masses. For special orders, contact: Miss Patricia Gilbert. Legion of Mary Meets on Tuesdays at 7.45 pm. Contact: Mr Rodolfo Badilla or Ms Philippa Gray. Over 50’s Club Meets on the First Wednesday of each month in the Back Room of the Church at 2.30 pm, usually preceded by Parish Counters Count the weekly offerings and record donations on the Gift Aid Scheme. Teams are scheduled to count usually every three months or so. Contact: Mrs Prayer Group Meets each Thursday at 8.00 pm in the Back Room. Contact: Mrs Frances Graham. Sacred Heart Centre The Centre is available for hire for long-term hire or for one-off hirings. Contact: Mrs St Vincent de Meets each Wednesday, starting with Mass at 7.30 pm. Contact: Mr Seamus O’Connor. Tea & Coffee Group Tea and coffee is served every week after the morning Masses in the Back Room, so that parishioners may meet together. Contact: Mrs Jan Evans. Youth Group Although suspended at the moment, we hope that the Youth Group will restart in the near future.
