Learn more About UsIn 1774, Father Francisco Garces, a Franciscan priest led an expedition up the Colorado River from Yuma to the Mohave Valley, home of the Mohave Indians. While in the area the first Mass was said at Needles by Fr. Garces. No mission was established at that time. St. Ann Catholic Church was the very first church built in Needles in 1889. The community pitched in together to build the church located at the corner of 3rd and D Streets. The original church was a mission out of Yuma, Arizona and at that time was under the Tucson Diocese. The first church was destroyed by fire just before Easter in 1920 and was rebuilt in 1921. The 400 pound bell salvaged from the ruins is still in use today. The parish hall was built in 1952 and is the center for CCD classes and parish functions. The hall is also used by other members of the community. St. Ann’s is a multi-cultural and tri-state parish. We are a community of believers in Jesus Christ, called to impact family, neighborhood, and society with the gospel so that people’s lives are filled with hope. St. Ann’s welcomes those living in the tri-state area, travelers, and winter visitors. All are welcome.
