Baptism Classes;  Sacrament preparation classes are part of the religious education program.  Parents who wish to have children baptized need to register with the church office.  Parents must be registered members of the parish for at least three months and attend a baptism preparation class before they can schedule a baptism.

First Reconciliation and Eucharist;  The preparation for these Sacraments is done as part of the religious education program for 2nd graders (7 years old).  Parents must provide a copy of the child's Certificate of Baptism and enroll the child in the religious education program for two years. For more information, see "Guidelines for Parents of 2nd Grade Children".

Confirmation;  In accordance with guidelines from the Archdiocese of Atlanta, the Sacrament of Confirmation is to be administered to young persons in the 10th grade (15 years old).  At St. Matthew, Confirmation preparation is part of the Youth Ministry program with additional Confirmation classes.   additional information

RCIC;  Non-Catholic children, whose parents wish them to become Catholic, should be enrolled in RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children). These children must be at least 8 years old. Catholic children of at least 8 years old who have not received their First Penance and First Communion will be enrolled in the same program. These classes meet at 8:30am on Sunday mornings.  We expect parents of these children to participate in several sacramental preparation sessions.  The number of sessions and times will be announced soon.

ADULT EDUCATION

Open Forum:  Wednesday evenings 7:00pm-8:15pm in Religious Education office.  Leo Kouters offers guidance in catholic moral and social issues.  Any topic is open for discussion.  These sessions coincide with the classes for 4th through 8th grade, so parents can have an interesting evening of learning while their children  are also on church premises.  Starts Wednesday, August 24th.  Contact Leo Kouters at 770 867-4876 or lkouters@bellsouth.net.

RCIA;  Non-Catholic adults who wish to join our faith should be enrolled in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) program. These sessions are held on Sundays from 10:00 am til 11:45 am. This process is also open to adult Catholics who have not recieved all of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist). Please feel free to talk with Leo Kouters in the church office or call 770 867-4876 to set up a time to sit in the class and learn about the program.

Bible Study;  We discuss the meaning of the upcoming Sunday scripture readings and pray to implement the meaning in our daily lives.  We meet every Wednesday evening from 7:00 PM- 8:15 PM in the Religious Education Bldg.  We would love to have you come.
