From The Principal 2011/2012
Welcome to St. Philip the Apostle School!
As we begin this new 2011-2012 school year, the Faculty, staff , and Administration of St. Philip the Apostle Parish School want you to know that all of us are committed to providing you with an environment that fosters the spiritual, mental, and social growth of each child. We are also committed to nurturing a loving community inspired by Gospel teaching and the example of Jesus Christ.
The enforcement of these policies, procedures, and guidelines, which are meant to support and enable the philosophy and Mission Statement of St. Philip the Apostle School, is an important part of our journey together in learning and growth. We ask that each student and their parent/guardian sign the "Receipt of Student Handbook" form, located on the back page of the handbook. This form must be returned to the office as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued commitment to St. Philip the Apostle School, and may this be a school year filled with academic success and many blessings!

Mission
Our Mission
We pledge that St. Philip the Apostle School is a Catholic community dedicated to creating an environment that fosters the spiritual, mental, and social growth of each child. The Administration, Faculty, Staff, and students will nurture a loving community inspired by Gospel teaching and the example of Jesus Christ. Through a diversity of curriculum and culture, the students will discover their unique talents and recognize them as gifts from God to be joyfully shared in the service of the Church and society.
Philosophy
The Faculty, staff, and parents of Saint Philip the Apostle School profess as our cornerstone, Christ's charge:
"Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these." (Mark 10:14)
Acknowledging that each child is a precious and unique creation, we, the community of believers, together accept the responsibility and privilege of ministry of service. We seek to develop an environment in which students, Faculty, staff, and Administration may experience a Catholic intellectual and moral perspective, reflecting the teachings of Christ in every area of human activity.
Saint Philip the Apostle School is an educationally purposeful community. Learning is the primary goal of every activity and every interaction. All members teach and learn from each other, thereby creating a dynamic and evolving partnership.
We are committed to providing a varied and individualized educational environment and evaluation that supports and strengthens each student by creating a sense of:
- Spiritual sensitivity, engendered by the living of the Gospel Word, to know God's love and to realize one's position as a treasured child of God
- Dignity and self-esteem supported by Catholic values which will enable the student to face challenges with confidence
- Awareness of the larger societal community with its inherent rights and responsibilities
- Responsibility to social justice and service to our sisters and brothers in Christ
- Adventure, inquiry, creativity, and challenge in the on-going quest for knowledge
It is the community of Saint Philip the Apostle that ensures a climate which celebrates diversity and which transmits the Living Word of the Gospel. Decisions concerning the educational mission and avenues to achieve that mission are the result of collegial and collaborative interaction among parents, Faculty, and Administration.
In gratitude, we desire to nurture through liturgy, prayer and meditation, a spirit of thanksgiving for God's blessings to our world and to our lives. All those involved in Saint Philip the Apostle School earnestly strive to make it a community of faith, a celebration of life.
