Baptism Faith Formation Since most of those who are baptized are infants, the commitment to faith is made on the infant’s behalf by their parents and godparents. This is why it is particularly important for parents and godparents to be practicing Catholics in good standing with the church. Such a commitment includes regular attendance at mass and reception of the sacraments. Godparents are to assist parents in their role of Christian parenting.
All parents who bring their children to be baptized at St Sebastian Parish are required to attend a formation session sponsored by the parish. This evening of learning and reflection occurs before the child is baptized. All parents need to attend this evening of learning. In this session the theology of Baptism, what it means to be a Christian parent and other subjects, including the important subject of how to choose Godparents, are explored. To register to begin this journey toward the celebration of the sacrament, please email the parish secretary at info@saintsebastianparish.org.
