St. Sebastian Parish at 311 Siebert Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 US - Pastoral Council
| Pastoral Council |
The St. Sebastian Pastoral Council is a group of 10-12 parishioners called forth and commissioned by the parish family to advise the pastor on matters related to the parish. Their mission is to serve as advisors to the pastor and to provide the long term vision for the parish. Father John Rushofsky, our pastor, presides over the council. In August of every other year, new members to the Council are selected. We ask all parishioners to consider serving on Council. A diverse group provides the broad range of perspectives that the Council needs to complete its mission, so everyone should feel qualified to apply. The council is not a legislative body that makes rules and regulations, but instead is a consultative and advisory body that collects data, processes it and submits it to the pastor along with proposals/recommendations for his consideration. Council members are “envisioners”, asking what needs to be done to serve parishioners, rather than “enablers” who are the hands which accomplish the goals of the parish. Open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, members of the Pastoral Council must be committed to service, dedicated to open-mindedness and fairness, and unselfishly sharing of their time, talents, values and hopefulness for the greater good of the entire parish community.
