What is Stewardship?
God created everyone with a purpose! All of our talents, blessings and all that we have are gifts from God. Stewardship is the management of these gifts in such a way that gives back to God in thankfulness for His generosity and great love for us.

“What shall I return to the Lord for all His bounty to me?”      Psalm 116:12, 14

Stewardship is not a code word for fundraising; it’s a way of life. Everything God has given us is intended to serve the divine plan – our life is to be lived in gratitude to God. Stewardship is using the gifts God gave us, to do the work God is calling us to do.

“To whom much is given much is required.”     Luke 12:48

Christ has no body now on earth but yours, no hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ’s compassion is to look out to the world. Yours are the feet with which Christ is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which Christ is to bless all people now.           ~ Saint Teresa of Avila

“As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”  Peter 4:10

“Think of the pool of talent in your parish: bankers, carpenters, lawyers, realtors, grocers, etc. Now think of a homeless family; picture them, feel their sense of despair. Now think of an abandoned house, perhaps even in the parish. Now what?” The People’s Catechism

“To each individual the manifestation of the spirit is given for some benefit.”  1 Corinthians 12:7

Service to the church is more than volunteerism. The word volunteer denotes a momentary commitment without a calling. A Minister is a good Steward who answers Jesus’ call to discipleship.

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve.”       Matthew 20:28

Stewardship Prayer
I offer this day to you, dear God.
Thank you for the blessings you have given me.
May I use these gifts to build your kingdom.
May my actions be a reflection of your love.
May what I do today bring others closer to you.
May my words be kind and gentle and may they bring joy to others.
Today, help me to give back a portion of what you have given me.
I ask this in Jesus' name.
Amen.

Stewardship Committee

Stewardship is giving back to the church with actions done in gratitude for the blessings God has given us. By giving our time, talent and treasure we can make a positive impact in our parish and its community. This committee works to promote Stewardship as a way of life within our parish. Committee members will work to encourage parishioners to find the Ministry that best suits their God given abilities. If you are interested in helping to lead this endeavor, the Stewardship Committee may be God’s calling for you! . Help make a difference in our parish community and work to build the Saint Sebastian Stewardship Team.

“To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit.”  1 Corinthians 12:7

Our work as a Stewardship Committee is to help fellow parishioners recognize their baptismal call to discipleship and as a result to live a life of Stewardship by giving their time, talent and treasure in gratitude for their blessings. To do this we are to focus on development – the meaningful involvement of people in our parish’s mission and vision for the future. Using these gifts to serve others helps us to develop a deeper relationship with God, as the Holy Spirit allows the meaning of Stewardship to take root in our lives.

“Simple Catholic affiliation is no longer enough. Catholics today seek not just to be on the rolls of an institution through which they can dispatch their religious obligations; they want a meaningful spiritual home.” Excellent Catholic Parishes – Paul Wilkes
