UPDATED 2/08/2004!!!
Our Updated Schedule of Events is Online! Click here for a listing of our activities for the rest of this 2004 school year!
The St. Angela Merici Society is a group of Catholic homeschooling families, most, but not all, of whom, are members of St. Martha Parish in Kingwood, Texas. Our pastor is the Rev. Msgr. Chester A. Borski.
We also have members who reside in Porter, Atascocita, Humble, Huffman, and New Caney. Our children range in age from not-yet-born to young adults. All ages are welcome!
We are faithful to the Magisterium and seek to rear truly faithful children who know and are strong in their faith, as well as in academics.
Anyone who is Catholic, and homeschooling, or thinking about homeschooling, is welcome to join us. We usually meet for Mass once a month, followed by other activities and service projects. We also have playdays in the park, and field trips.
Please e-mail us through our Contact page if you would like to receive an invitation to join us in our endeavors.
St. Angela Merici Society Prayer
O Heavenly Father, you have given us the Holy Family as our patron to bless and guide our families so that the fruit of the Holy Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control - shall reign in our homes. Let each one of us follow Your example, as well as that of Mary, Your Mother most loving and ours, and that of Your blameless guardian, Saint Joseph. Most wonderful Creator, and Author of all knowledge, reason, and faith: enlighten our understanding, and remove from us all darkness of sin and ignorance. Direct our tongues, and pour on our lips the grace of Your blessing. Give us a diligent and obedient spirit, quickness of apprehension, the capacity of retaining, and the powerful assistance of Your holy grace so that what we hear and learn, we may apply to Your honor and the eternal salvation of our own souls. As parents, grant us Wisdom, Knowledge, and all the virtues necessary to lead our children by word and example in the path of righteousness, to be responsible and successful Christians forever. Teach us what to give and what to withhold, when to reprove and when to praise. Make us gentle and considerate, yet firm and watchful, keeping us from weak indulgence, or from great severity. Give us the courage to be disliked sometimes by our children, when we must do necessary things that are displeasing to their eyes. Grant us the imagination to enter into their world in order to understand and guide them. As teachers, guide and strengthen us as we instruct our children in the ways of all knowledge, particularly in helping our children to form and maintain right consciences and to lovingly follow Your Son, Jesus Christ, even in the sorrows which it shall please You to send us. Inspire us to encourage our children in whatever vocation You may give them. O Jesus, empty us of all of our failings and self-centeredness for, on our own, we cannot do this homeschooling to which you have called us. Fill us instead with the Knowledge of Your will and the certitude of Your Understanding. Inspire us that we may be the instrument of Your enlightenment for our children. O Mary, Mother of grace and of mercy, let us follow in your footsteps in silence and recollection, patience, and in the joyful fulfillment of our many and unceasing duties. Saint Joseph, foster-father of our Savior, guardian of His holy Mother, head of the Holy Family, intercede for us. Teach us the joys to be found in completing our tasks to the best of our abilities. Saint Raphael, preserve us from all sickness and from every danger to our lives. Heavenly Father, Holy Spirit, Holy Family, St. Ignatius, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Angela Merici, our patron, please pray for us, and all homeschooling families, that we may have happy, holy families, learning joyfully, fervently and well together, daily praying and growing closer to You, forever through Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, the adorable Holy Family. Amen.
