Welcome New Members!

Welcome, New Members!

Thank you for your interest in our local (NE Houston area) Catholic homeschool group, the St. Angela Merici Society. We are loyal to the Magisterium , and our group is officially registered at St. Martha Parish in Kingwood. If you would like to join us in our endeavors to provide a support-filled, Catholic-based education for our families, Kim Williams will send you an e-mail invitation to our private, unlisted, Alta Vista website. All you need to do is click on the link at the bottom of the page and fill in your required information for the website--your internet name and the password of your choice. When you arrive at the site, please remember to bookmark it and add it to your Favorites! Kim Williams keeps our site updated through the year with our activities, events, and announcements. One of its best features is that the site contains a Member Directory/E-mail page, from which all of our webpage members can be e-mailed at once. This makes it important to update your member information if you ever change your e-mail address. :^) Catalina Garcia, Kerri Jenkins, and Diane Sparks are the co-coordinators of our group this year. Our primary focus is Catholic culture for our families, trying not to duplicate the activities and classes offered by the local Christian homeschool group) or ARCH (local Houston area Apostolate of Roman Catholic Homeschoolers). Our activities sometimes include touring nearby Catholic churches, gospel reflections (for "older" children), saints' stories, crafts, or a rosary in the park.

We do request that each family coordinate one activity, or help in some way to keep our group active and thriving without putting undue stress on anyone's homeschooling efforts. Please check the website for our next gathering. We also have tentative hopes of having regularly-scheduled Saturday morning breakfasts for the moms, as well as occasional Family Rosary get-togethers. These of course depend on member interest and volunteer support. H.E.A.R.T. is our large, local Christian homeschooling group which meets monthly at the Kingwood Community Church (across from Creekwood Middle School on West Lake Houston Parkway). Some of their activities include monthly group science classes at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, elementary field trips, scouting information, middle school and teen activities, dance lessons, home school team sports, homeschool choirs and band, as well as many others. H.E.A.R.T. also sponsors monthly meetings with featured speakers. H.E.A.R.T. annual membership dues are $25, and include a monthly newsletter which highlights information on all of our Houston area opportunities for homeschooling, as well as information on national homeschooling news of interest. We look forward to meeting you and your family, and uniting with you to support one another in our Catholic homeschooling endeavors. In Christ's love and joy, Catalina Garcia, Kerri Jenkins, and Diane Sparks

St. Angela Merici, pray for us. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!
