In 1986, a diverse community at Pleasant Hill had but a temporary place to worship and praise God and venerate the first Filipino saint—San Lorenzo Ruiz. Twenty years after, this Catholic community united in mission and ministry, has now a rectory, a pastoral center, a charity foundation, and a church, the utmost HANDOG sa DIYOS.
The millennium year ushered the creation of the Quasi Parish with Bishop Rolando J. Tria Tirona and Fr. Manny Manicad at the helm, Fr. Mario Jose C. Ladra was assigned Priest-in-Charge. In January 19, 2003, ground-breaking ceremonies signaled the construction of the church of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila Parish. A year after, it was canonically established and Bishop Jose F. Oliveros installed Fr. Mar as the first parish priest. On January 22, 2006, after three years of assiduous and enthusiastic labor, the church was finally consecrated and dedicated to the Lord Almighty.
The church manifests the fullness of God’s gifts and blessings to His people. The altar is something to behold. Its retablo is inherently Filipino in motif, one of its kind in the country. Sawali, bamboo and old yakal wood reverberate that simplicity is an assurance of blissful treasures. Gold trimmings typify God’s most precious gem – our Eternal Life.
The Divine Eye at the summit acknowledges that God is sovereign and supreme in the universe. Our perennial source of strength and courage, He ceaselessly keeps us in His care. Enshrined on pedestals are our intercessors in heaven – Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary; St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse, and San Lorenzo, patron saint. Lorenzo himself was a devotee of the Blessed Mother, mediatrix of all graces. The Holy Eucharist, Santisimo Sacramento, our font of faith, is housed in a miniature nipa hut, as tabernacle or sagrario. It is carried by men in their acts of selfless generosity, BAYANIHAN STYLE: This is to remind us that nothing of significance is achieved without effort, hard work, and responsiveness. Service, prompted by duty, should lead us to humility and is done with thankfulness.
Designs at the base actualize the Lord’s endowments in our communitarian life. Men, women and children face life’s struggles with confidence, because man’s needs will never exceed God’s resources. The exquisitely carved Last Supper depicts the Lords relationship of love, tolerance and harmony with His people. The Divine Providence is always at work for our sustenance and salvation. To complement the Altar Mayor, there are two side altars, the “Colaterales” were the images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary are placed.

Our response and responsibility to serving God and the Church; our solidarity in faith; is now our HANDOG sa DIYOS, which powerfully strengthens, constantly rejuvenates, and brings tranquility to the human heart.
God will see us through.
