On March 14, 2004, Christian believers from all walks of life witnessed the Solemn Proclamation and Canonical Establishment of the Parish of San Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila, together with the Canonical Possession and Liturgical Installation of Rev. Fr. Mario Jose C. Ladra as its first parish priest.
Now, on its First Year Anniversary and with almost completely finished new place of worship, blessings still abound for the newly-established parish. San Lorenzo Ruiz’ steadfast faith remained a challenge for the parishioners and an example to emulate in their spiritual life. Fr. Mar Ladra, the parish’s charismatic priest who never loses sight of the parish’s vision serves as an inspiring expression of the reality of God as he touches people’s lives.
This year’s significant occasion held last March 13, 2005 was also the Blessing of the Church’s Choirloft and Kids’ Cryroom where small children will stay during Holy Masses. This is to ensure the solemnity of the celebration and prevent unnecessary distraction. Most Rev. Jose F. Oliveros, D.D., presided the Thanksgiving Mass with Fr. Ladra and other guest priests.
At the beginning of the Eucharistic celebration, the Gintong Lahi Dance Co., choreographed by artistic director, Bro. Tony Bermudez rendered a graceful interpretative dance number that lend a touch of the passion of Christ. And as the angelic voices of the well-rehearsed parish Choir echoed and filled the whole sanctuary, the principal sponsors and other church benefactors freed hundreds of colorful butterflies which signified everyone’s wish for solidarity and as a fitting expression of gratitude for a year that was filled with faith, hope and love.
