Welcome Letter |
January 25, 2009 Dear Parent, By visiting our school you have made an important first step in ensuring a bright future for your child. All schools teach math, science and reading and we certainly do that, and we do that quite well! But what sets us above the rest is that we teach right from wrong, a set of values, a work ethic, a conscience. As Catholic school educators our work is transformative...we change lives in ways we don't even know. Every day we get a chance to make a difference for the good! In just three years, Seton has proven our academic excellence. Terra Nova test results from Spring 2006 showed our students performing above the national average in math, science and reading in grades 3-8. In addition, 17 of 32 seventh graders qualified for the Duke Talent Program in 2005 and 21 of 50 qualified in 2006. Success has continued throughout our three and a half years! Terra Nova results continue to be above the national average and this year we had 50% of our 7th grade students qualified for the DUKE Talent Program! In today’s world of bullying, cliques, and other societal pressures Seton has taken a proactive stance in dealing with these problems. Middle school students have weekly guidance class to teach positive relationship techniques, problem solving, and critical thinking/decision making skills. Your child’s formation will be enhanced through daily religion class and through our school wide Peacebuilder’s program. Your child will learn what it means to right wrongs, give up put downs, praise people, and notice hurts as they become a Seton Peacebuilder. In closing, I hope that your visit to Seton was pleasant and informative. If you have questions you are certainly welcome to contact me at 273-7827. Again we appreciate your interest and look forward to serving you in the future! Peace and Blessings, Mrs. Lee H. Coomer Principal
