RCIA -- Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Inquiry sessions for RCIA meet on Monday Evenings 7-9pm in the St. Joseph's Room at the parish center, 245 W. Front Street. Sessions begin in the fall!
Have you ever wondered if those stories you‘ve heard about those Catholics are true? Now is your chance to find out! If you would like to know more about the Catholic Church you can attend inquiry sessions that will cover basic teachings and practices.
After inquiring you decide to become a member of our parish family there will be opportunities for more serious examination of gospel values. This is a process the church calls the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is an ancient tradition in the church of allowing an interested person time to reflect on a relationship with God. This time called the Catechumenate is for practicing devotions and methods of prayer, which is part of church tradition.
The Catechumenate is a flexible period, depending on the person's needs and readiness, and can continue a few months or a few years. When the catechumens are ready, the bishop calls them to a period of spiritual preparation for the sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church. Members of the parish and Catholics who are friends and relatives are also present during sessions and ceremonies. They lend support, offer insights and take part in discussions so that those interested will have a variety of viewpoints and shared experiences to consider.
Please call Toni Grojean at 471-2447 or 471-9820 if you have any questions or if you would like to register for sessions.
