We are Catholic parents who teach our children some or all subject areas in the home.  “Because they have given life to their children, parents have a most serious obligation and enjoy the right to educate them; therefore Christian parents are especially to care for the Christian education of their children according to the teaching handed on by the Church.” (Canon 226.2)

Spiritually:  As the Ecclesia domestica (domestic church or church in the home), we undertake the Catholic formation of our children through home education. “Education in the faith by parents, which should begin from the children’s tenderest age, is already being given when the members of a family help each other to grow in faith through the witness of their Christian lives, a witness that is often without words but which perseveres throughout a day-to-day life lived in accordance with the Gospel.” (John Paul II, Catechesi Tradendae)

Academically: We strive for what is best academically for our children, using a variety of methods to educate.  “Parents as well as those who take their place are obliged and enjoy the right to educate their offspring; Catholic parents also have the right to select those means and institutions through which they can provide more suitably for the Catholic education of children according to local circumstances.” (Canon 793.1)

Socially: We prepare our children to take their place in the Church and in society by fulfilling their vocations as adults.  “They (christian couples) are the first to pass on the faith to their children and to educate them in it.  By word and example they form them to a Christian and apostolic life; they offer them wise guidance in the choice of vocation, and if they discover in them a sacred vocation they encourage it with all care.” (Vatican II, Apostolicum Actuositatem)
