month after school in the library.
2009-2010 LINEUP OF BOOKS
January: Walk Two Moons - a girl travels across the country to look for her mother who left years ago.
February: The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman - true story of a 100-year-old black woman who has lived through the Civil Rights era.
March: FAMILY READS TOGETHER NIGHT!
• K, 1st and 2nd Grades: The Good, The Bad and the Goofy - 3 boys time travel back to the days of the Old West
• 3rd and 4th Grades - a boy and a dog survive the sinking of the Titanic
• 5th and 6th Grades - Long Way From Chicago - a brother and sister visit their strange but hilarious grandmother during the Depression
• 7th and 8th Grades: Year of the Hangman - what if the American Revolution failed? What if George Washington is sentenced to execution? A young spy encounters Ben Franklin in this alternate history adventure
April: Spirit Seeker - a girl tires to clear her best friend when he is the suspect in the murder of his family.
May: Schooled - a home schooled teeenager goes to public high school and his classmates don't know whether to make fun of him or recognize him as a hero.
October: Million Dollar Strike won 8 two-thumbs up; 12 one-thumb up; and 3 thumbs down. Thanks to Mr. Gambish for his back-of-house tour of a bowling alley!
November: Elephant Run - erned 5 two-thumbs up; 6 one-thumb up; and 2 thumbs down. We learned a lot about World War II and the Japanese.
SJS Families are invited to read a book and aatend our first ever pot-luck dinner and book discussion. After a shared meal, families will brak into small groups to discuss the books they've read. Each grade level will have their choice of two books which amy be checked out form the school and read for this event. Following is a list of the books available.
