SWINE FLU |
Please be advised that St. Joseph School is addressing the spread of Swine Flu in a proactive way. Teachers will be cleaning desks, doorknobs, etc. daily and will be re-teaching hygiene and lessons on how germs are passed. We will be stressing how to wash hands thoroughly and covering coughs and sneezes by using tissues or the inside of the arm rather than the hand. We will also have hand sanitizer available.
Please help us by talking to your children about these things also, especially the importance of eating their own lunches and not touhcing anyone else's.
If your child has a fever, please do not send them to school. If you were in Mexico recenlty, please let the office know so we can keep an extra close eye on your children.
The Lorain County General Health District has sent these guidelines:
• Symptoms of Swine Flu - fever of 102º, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills
• Incubation time - 2-4 days. Most people are contagious for 7 days, but children can remain contagious for 10 days or longer
• Contracting Swine Flu - contact with swine or those people who have the flu through person-to-person touching, coughing or sneezing.
• Prevention - cover nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and discard the tissue immediately; wash hands for 20 seconds and wash hands often; avoid contact with those who are ill - stay home if you are ill!
