Philosophy of Religious Education
As educators in the Catholic School system, we believe that it is our obligation to see that all children who come to us receive a well-rounded education which will prepare them to be faithful members of their parish church and loyal, useful citizens of their country.
The student's growth as a whole person (religiously, emotionally, intellectually, culturally, physically) is the main concern of the school.
Teachers provide the formal and informal learning experiences which are the means of student growth.
Since the student is an individual, with his/her own talents, limitations, learning rates, learning styles, background, and interests, teachers provide a variety of approaches, structures, requirements, materials, and methods to meet individual needs.
The student's primary social group is his family. Here he first learns love, freedom (not license), social behavior, and the Christian life.
Parents, who are the first and foremost educators, of their child, have a responsibility to take an active interest in the child's formal education.
Teachers, who recognize their roles as co-educators of your child, have a responsibility to take an active interest in the child's formal education.
As a FAITH COMMUNITY we must work together and individually toward this purpose. Our FAITH COMMUNITY must take into consideration three main ideas: message, community, and service.
The MESSAGE revealed by God to be proclaimed to his COMMUNITY through the SERVICE we give, is the purpose of the Christian teacher in our school. We can have this FAITH COMMUNITY, if we, as a group, share Jesus and Jesus related experiences with others. Faith must be shared to be effective.
