St. Peter Claver Parish at 1203 North Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, FL 33602 US - LPMI GRADS - BOB AGRUSA AND MARJORIE FELIX

LPMI GRADS - BOB AGRUSA AND MARJORIE FELIX

Congratulations to Bob Agrusa and Marjorie Felix, who have completed four years of formation in the Lay Pastoral Ministry Institute (LPMI) of the Diocese of St. Petersburg!

They were among the 27 men and women commissioned in an Evening Prayer service on June 15, 2009 by Bishop Robert N. Lynch. The formation received by these men and women included class time on such subjects as the Word of God, Lay Leadership Skills, Conflict Resolution and Diversity Issues, Social Justice, the Sacraments, and Canon Law. They also attended Theological Reflection sessions and various workshops around the diocese. In addition they completed an Apprenticeship in a specific ministry in a parish, and a Practicum in the final year in which they coordinated a ministry in their home parish. While a number of others from the parish have or are currently taking LPMI classes, Bob and Marjorie are the first to complete all four years.

We especially thank their families for supporting them during these years of formation. Thanks also to Fred White and Sr. Pat Haley who supported them through the Practicum projects as their sponsors. We thank also Fr. Hugh Chikawe and Fr. Pierre Dorvil for their pastoral support, advice and encouragement. Without the support of the pastors, participation in the program would not be possible.

The LPMI program is a four-year program of formation for lay persons to prepare them to take on leadership roles in ministry in their parishes.  The program is accredited by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee On Certification and Accreditation.  For more information on the LPMI, contact Dale Brown (727-344-1611, ext. 458), dpb@dosp.org.
