Our diocese is a wonderful example of St. Paul’s Letters to the Corinthians. It’s made of many parts, from the far west of Missouri…..Joplin, Seneca, and Webb City, across more than 25 thousand square miles, to the east-side of the diocese, to Charleston, Cape Girardeau and Kennett, our 87 parishes, missions and campus ministries bring a multitude of gifts to each and every one of us.
Through our Bishop, many ministries and programs are developed and conducted specifically for each of us in southern Missouri and because these programs are coordinated through the chancery office, often called The Catholic center, there is no need for parishes to work separately to create and develop new programs and materials.
With programs developed through the Catholic Center’s staff, our parish priests are able to do what they are called to do, provide us with spiritual direction.
Through contributions to the annual Diocesan Development Fund, we are given an opportunity to participate in ministries and programs through our parishes that inspire, enlighten, and strengthen our Catholic faith.
How are we affected by the DDF?
Were you or someone in your family one of the 283 new Catholic faithful who joined the Church through the RCIA program this past Easter? Our Church is growing by the hundreds each year through this wonderful program. The Rite of Election, welcoming our brothers and sisters, is funded through the Diocesan Development Fund.
Perhaps you were one of the hundreds of parishioners who attended the marriage preparation and marriage enrichment programs? Contributions to the DDF help to fund these most needed programs.
If you attended the pastoral leadership training conference this past year, you benefited directly from the contributions to the DDF.
This past year, dozens of workshops took place across the diocese to help us be informed on Catholic Social Teaching and how it relates to the issues we face in politics and society. The Just Faith and Faithful Citizenship information sessions were made possible directly from the DDF.
Do your children or grandchildren attend Catholic school or parish religious education classes? Your contribution to the DDF provides for continuing education opportunities for our Catholic school and Parish PSR teachers, which in turn, enhance the faith education of our children.
If you have a child or grandchild who participates in youth programs at your parish or if they were one of the 497 campers who attended Camp Renewal, these motivational enriching programs are also directly affected by your financial support to the DDF.
And because of your support to the DDF, the vocations of our Priests are financially supported in turn helping us to celebrate the Holy Mass each and every day with our priests.
We are many parts.
We are individuals, joined within our parishes within the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, all joined together within the One Body of the universal Catholic Church.
As of August 31, over 9,331 pledges have been made to the Diocesan Development Fund. 96% of this year's campaign has been reached to date. Thank you for your prayers and support.
Make a difference today by pledging your support to the Diocesan Development Fund.
