The fundamental tasks of our religious formation ministry at SSPJ Church are: To proclaim Christ's message; to develop community;to instruct and lead all people, to pray and become worshipping members of our parish community; to motivate them to serve others. Following are some programs guidelines and procedures that hopefully will make your experience of our ministry orderly and pleasant. ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL: Grade 2 to 8: Please bring your son/daughter to, and pick them up from their classroom at the parish school or in the catechist's home. THEY CAN BE DISMISSED ONLY TO YOU OR SOMEONE DESIGNATED BY YOU. PLEASE INFORM YOUR CHILD'S CATECHIST WHO WILL BE PICKING HIM OR HER UP AND SUBMIT A NOTE TO YOUR CHILD'S CATECHIST STATING IF SOMEONE ELSE IS ACTING IN YOUR PLACE. Please be mindful of CLASS BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS TIMES, WHETHER AT THE SCHOOL OR CATECHIST'S HOME. The catechists have been kind enough to give us their time at the school or open their homes to the children; however, they too have family commitments they must end to after the class is over. PLEASE NOTE: CHILDREN WHO ATTEND CLASSES IN THE MARY MONTE BUILDING WILL BE BROUGHT TO THE SCHOOL LOBBY IF THEIR PICK UP IS EXTREMELY LATE. EARLY RELEASE: We realize emergencies do occur causing your son/daughter to be dismissed from class early. If an EMERGENCY does happen; Please write a note to your child's catechist stating the time, reason for the early dismissal and who will pick up your child. Your child's catechist will give the note to the office where it will be kept on file. ABSENCES: If there are more than 3 unexcused absences, a conference with the program coordinator will be necessary. PLEASE CALL YOUR CHILD'S CATECHIST AND NOT THE RELIGIOUS EDUCATION OFFICE WHEN THERE WILL BE AN ABSENCE. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. SNOW DAYS AND EMERGENCY CLOSINGS: Closings will be announced on: Channel 12 News TV and their website:www.news12.com/home, WALK.FM, and also our parish website:www.sspj.org PLEASE: 1)Do not allow your son/daughter to bring food, drink(even water) or toys/games to class. 2)Learn the name and phone number of your child's catechist! Feel welcome to visit their class whether at the school or in the home! 3)Read through your child's weekly lesson with him or her, at some time either before or after each class. 4)Remember to bring your family to Mass and pray together often. 5)Try and eat as many meals together as possible. 6)Hug, kiss, and say, "I love you" all the time!!) Please know how much your continued support and cooperation mean to us and our religious education and parish staffs!
