Something for Everyone

The Women of St. Ann (WOSA)  is a community of women of all ages with varied interests and talents, bonded together to serve the Lord, the mission of the church, and each other: spiritually, socially and emotionally.  WOSA welcomes ALL women of the parish, young and old, Catholic and non-Catholic.  There is no cost to join.

Monthly meetings, held the second Thursday of each month September thru May at 6:30 p.m. in Madonna Hall, begin by praying the rosary, followed by a potluck dinner and a monthly program.  Some of the programs in the past have included a wine tasting, making handmade rosaries, mini retreats, and informative speakers.  Childcare is provided in the PDO building with a reservation no later than the Sunday preceding each meeting. Donations for childcare are appreciated, but not required.


Service Projects include assisting with infant and adult baptism, hosting the Easter Vigil reception, presenting all baptized with handmade rosaries made by the Women of St. Ann, hosting special event receptions for priests and deacons, donating Christmas gifts to area children or family, helping out those less fortunate, donating funds to the parish on an as needed basis through the Ice Cream Social.
Holiday Ravioli,Game Night and Dessert Extravaganza.

 Scouting Programs

 
Tiger Cubs - A school-year program for first-grade (or 7-year-old) boys and their adult partners that stresses simplicity, shared leadership, learning about the community, and family understanding. Each boy/adult team meets for family activities, then once or twice a month all the teams meet for Tiger Cub group activities.

 

Cub Scouting - A family- and home-centered program for boys in the second through fifth grade (or 8, 9, and 10 years old). Cub Scouting's emphasis is on quality program at the local level, where the most boys and families are involved. Fourth- and fifth-grade (or 10-year-old) boys are called Webelos (WE'll BE LOyal Scouts) and participate in more advanced activities that begin to prepare them to become Boy Scouts.

 

Boy Scouts - The St. Ann Boy Scouts of Troop 265 meet every Monday evening at 7:00 at the Family Life Center. We plan and go on at least one outdoor activity a month, and schedule several special trips throughout the year to include: Philmont Scout Ranch, Minnesota Canoe Base, Summer Camp, Camporee/Jamboree, white water rafting, hiking and more.

Venturing - Venturing is a new program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. 
                          

Girl Scouts of the USA is committed to helping today's girls become tomorrow's leaders. For 90 years, the Girl Scout program has delivered quality experiences for girls locally, nationally, and internationally.

The Girl Scout program is girl-driven, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of participating girls. It provides girls with a wide variety of opportunities. The program encourages increased skill building and responsibility, and also promotes the development of strong leadership and decision-making skills. All program activities are age-appropriate and based on The Four Program Goals, as well as on the Girl Scout Promise and Law. The four program goals include:

·         Developing Self-Potential

·         Relating to Others

·         Developing Values

·         Contributing to Society

 

There are five age levels in Girl Scouting: Daisy Girl Scouts, ages 5-6; Brownie Girl Scouts, ages 6-8; Junior Girl Scouts, ages 8-11; Cadette Girl Scouts, ages 11-14; and Senior Girl Scouts, ages 14-17. Beginning at age 14, girls are also eligible to join the Venturing Program. Venturing is a co-educational program for young men and women.


The Ed Kitts Council #7170 The Knights of Columbus
help Catholic men remain steadfast in their faith, promote closer ties of fraternity, and provide financial security for their families by dedicating themselves to the ideals of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. Activities are continuous and varied with emphasis on church, family, youth, pro-life, council, and community. Examples include dances, dinners, camping, parade floats, ushers, rallies, contests, Special Olympics, and workdays.


ESP - Extra Special People
provides recreation for the senior parishioners over 50 years of age. Activities include programs, speakers, bingo, tours, picnics, potlucks, "55 Live Mature Driving Course" and many others.


The Legion of Mary
visits nursing homes leading the Rosary, visits the sick, the bereaved, shut-ins, and inactive Catholics. Auxiliary members also lead Rosary before Saturday Vigil Mass, provide transportation to mass, make baptismal gowns for infants and adults, and attend retreats.


The Queen of Peace Group
responds to the Virgin Mary's request for Cenacle Prayer. Activities include praying 15 decade Rosary for all children, all priests, and religious and special intentions. Monthly consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.


Catholic Family Focus
builds and fosters Christian community among Catholic families through prayer, support, outreach, learning, and sharing. Monthly home meetings of 3 to 8 families are planned for sharing prayer, dinner, discussion, and fun. Emphasis is placed upon enjoying each others company and growing together as a community of faith. To learn more about CFF click

Home and School Association
promotes a strong commitment to the values of our Catholic faith and spiritual and emotional growth of children within the home, parish school, and church community through open communication and fellowship among parents, teachers, and administration. The group supports the school and encourages respect and care for school facilities through volunteer activities, social functions, and fund raisers. Membership is open to parents, guardians, and faculty.


St Ann Band Boosters
promote the instrumental program of the parish school through volunteer activities, fund-raising and social events. Membership is open to anyone interested in the development of the band program.


Young At Heart
is a  group of parishioners offering fellowship and sharing for members of St. Ann who are 50 years of age or older. Monthly meetings consist of social, educational, cultural, and religious discussions and presentations. Activities of the Club include excursions, day trips, and participating in the parish life of
St. Ann.


The St. Ann Catholic Church Moms and Tots (MAT)
is an organization whose purpose is to minister to mothers and their children. The ministry provides a place where MAT members can find mutual support and fellowship. Through resources and activities, MAT makes every effort to promote positive mental, spiritual, and physical support for members. Ultimately, the MAT mission is to help members be the best mothers possible to their children. It is the organization's goal to foster a source of friendship between members. MAT members strive to facilitate a spiritual bond that can be shared with each other, keeping in mind the finest mother of all, Mary, when strength and prayers are needed.  MAT offers:

- A great way to meet other moms! Mat members are all going through the same ups and downs of parenting children, and it’s wonderful to get together and eat, laugh, share, and sometimes just let it all out.

- A great way for the kids to make new friends as well!!!

- Volunteer meals and help for moms in the group having a new baby.

- Reaching out to the community thru nursing home visits, etc.

- Monthly Activities:

For the kids: Fieldtrips around Memphis the last Friday of the month, playgroups on the in between Friday’s of the month, holiday parties.

For the moms: Mom’s Night Out (meet monthly at a local restaurant), exciting monthly meeting topics (ex: parenting, etc.), playgroups
