Welcome to St. Anne Church
We are a vibrant, growing and friendly Roman Catholic Church located in Columbus, Georgia. We belong to the Diocese of Savannah. We were established in September 1961 and presently have over 1700 registered families. We are also the largest Catholic parish in Columbus. Our territory takes most of the East and North Columbus. As our mission statement says, "We are a Catholic community of faith, joyfully committed to living the Gospel through Worship and Prayer, Education, Service and Stewardship."
Our parish members represent a rich diversity of ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds. We strive to be a hospitable, welcoming community. The good influence of so many military families in Columbus and in our parish is evident: in a transient community, we make new friends readily and quickly. We strive to implement the vision of the Catholic Church expressed in the Second Vatican Council. The laity of St. Anne parish exercise strong leadership on our consultative boards (Parish Council, School Board, Stewardship Council); our Liturgies are joyful and dignified, with strong participation from the congregation; our Outreach program is well respected in Columbus for its service to the needs of the poor.
We are blessed to have many young families and lots of children at St. Anne parish. The education of those children is an essential part of our mission. We have recently expanded St. Anne School to double the classrooms for each grade. St. Anne School presently has 430 students. Pacelli High School provides an excellent Catholic education for any Catholic or non-Catholic student in the Columbus area. Pacelli has an enrollment of 200 students. Our Sunday School program provides an excellent quality Catholic instruction for the children of our parish who attend the public schools. Our parish youth program, SAY, provides the same for teenagers of our parish.
Approximately 14 years ago, our parish embraced the concept of Stewardship of Time, Talent and Treasure. The results have been tremendous. We always had very generous members; however, the focus on Stewardship has inspired many more members to become involved in ministries, activities and organizations of the parish. In addition to that, the level of giving to the Church has increased, making it possible for us to expand our facilities and our mission.
If you will be visiting Columbus, or if you are planning to settle in Columbus, we welcome you to celebrate Sunday Mass with us. I think that you will find that St. Anne parish has a great deal to offer. Thanks for inquiring about us.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. J. Gerard Schreck, JCD
